About
Well hello and welcome to my world of sock monkeys. I’ve created my own one man sock monkey sweatshop, and I’m close to or surpassed the thousandth monkey made. Yes, I’m tired of making them! I’ve pricked my finger five hundred times, Cursed endlessly, jammed my sewing machine and seen the little buggers dancing in my dreams. Yet every time I finish one I fall in love all over again. They are just so damn cute and each one has its own personality. I just finished making another one. I zipped him up in a Priority Mail bag and will ship him out this afternoon. I can’t seem to keep a steady inventory of them… So I’m always making them to order.
One of the only toys I have left from my childhood is an old sock monkey named Zephyr. He lives on my bed and is the inspiration for all the monkeys I’ve made. I’ve been making sock monkeys for almost ten years and selling them for six years atsupersockmonkey.com. I started making them for friends and family and some how it grew into a small but lucrative online business. It gives me great joy knowing that my sock monkeys are bringing joy to children and adults all over the world.
My goal is to create an exhibit of custom made sock monkeys and animals and to share them with local galleries and on this blog.
Cheers,
Mitch Mitchell

You are an inspiration! I make Sock Cats. People ask me why I don’t paint pictures anymore. I say, nobody ever hugged one of my paintings.

I miss drawing and painting myself… But going with what’s popular and sock monkeys are still a hit.
Cheers,
